After 52 years of veterinary service, Dr. Zehendner is retiring July 13, 2021.
Dr. Zehendner was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He studied at Purdue University and graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1969. From there, he moved to Harbor Beach, Michigan and spent two years treating large animals for a busy dairy practice. In 1972, Dr. Zehendner moved back home to Fort Wayne, Indiana to practice at a small animal clinic, where he spent the next six years caring for companion animals. In 1977, he moved here to Portland, Oregon and established East Portland Veterinary Clinic- focusing on dogs and cats. Dr. Zehendner was a member of the Board of Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital from 1998-2004, having served as President of the Board from 2002-2003. He is an avid outdoorsman and has spent the past fourteen years raising and training Labrador Retrievers.
